So you’ve decided to buy that new LCD or plasma HDTV. You’re going to spend more than a thousand dollars on it, and you know it’s going to look great in your living room. But when you bring it home, you can tell that your old wooden stand wasn’t made for the task. It’s antiquated and ugly and looks out of place propping up that sleek, futuristic screen. You’re going to need a new platform for the set, but you can buy an HDTV stand that will complement your HDTV without a major expenditure, giving it the look it was meant to have.
Good Looks and Strength
HDTV stands combine good looks with strong materials and easy access for the perfect accessory to complement your home theater arrangement. Some have metal frames which can support hundreds of pounds with ease, and glass panels will allow your DVD players, tuner, and surround sound receivers to receive commands from your remote control, so you don’t have to open the doors to use your television components. Glass panels have a futuristic look and show off your components. Newer manufacturing processes and stronger materials have resulted in superior products, so you’ll never have to worry about support.
Of course, if you aren’t partial to steel and glass, you can always stick with a wooden HDTV stand. Many of these feature glass panels and doors as well if you so choose. You can also buy entirely wood HDTV stands, but you won’t be being able to use devices inside without opening the doors. Not a majr point, but many peopnle like the convenience. Or if you do not enjoy looking at their electronics as you watch movies or television, hide them behind pristine, stylish, woode doors.
How much will you pay for a good HDTV stand? Hundreds of dollars? Many pieces of furniture can cost thousands, and you probably won’t pay more than two or three hundred for a beautiful television stand. The metal stands are generally cheaper than the wooden variety. Many television manufacturers sell their HDTVs along with a stand designed for the unit, and you can often get great deals on HDTV stands for your HDTV at the time of purchase.
Of course, any HDTV stand will be the last item on your list when purchasing a new HDTV. The choices of the other components is more important, and you probably won’t be satisfied with a stand that doesn’t allow for the beautiful, crystalline sound coming from your new surround sound system. Depending on your budget, you may want to put off making another purchase, but at the very least you’ll need to find something to do the job. So improvise, if necessary until you can get the furnishings that will add to the experience.
